King Robert the Bruce of Scotland became a Grandmaster of the Knights Templar in election and succession. King Robert the Bruce, acting fully within his rights as the lawful Sovereign of the Scots, did ordain by royal decree, for all perpetuity, the right of the Knights Templar to exist in Scotland and to serve Scotland. Knights Templar fought at the Battle of Bannockburn on June 24th, 1314 and helped to secure a victory for the Scots, but independence for Scotland.
