		Craigievar Castle The Blue Bedroom is the haunt of one of the Gordon clan members, who fell from a window. He has been pushed to his death by "Red" Sir John Forbes, a noble. Several people heard the step of the unfortunate Gordon climbing the stairs to the Blue Bedroom, as if he was living the moment before his death again and again. One of the other ghosts is one of a musician, who is very selective (he shows himself just to people with the name of Forbes). He fell in the moat of the castle and drowned.
	Melville Castle	Melville Castle From time to time a ghost has been seen. It is said to be the spirit of Elizabeth Rannie the heiress to a fortune who was persuaded to marry the shrewd and calculating Henry Dundas, Viscount Melville. This association led to her ruin. The Castle, which has been a country house hotel since 1950, is bounded by a nine-hole and two 18-hole golf courses with driving ranges. The golf courses of Edinburgh and East Lothian are a half-hour drive away. Accommodation comprises six public rooms, 30 bedrooms of various sizes, including six large gallery suites. There are two bars, the Library Bar and the Cellar Bar, and a brasserie. An extension providing 60 bedrooms, reception rooms, a fitness centre and other facilities is planned. 12 years as a derelict building, Melville Castle underwent a five-year restoration and is now a luxury hotel that can cater for receptions, conferences and corporate training. The A-listed castellated mansion was designed by James Playfair, the leading Scottish architect, and built in 1786 for Henry Dundas, the first Viscount Melville. Guests have included Queen Victoria, Sir Walter Scott, and George IV, who inspected the Lothian and Border Yeomanry on the lawn. The castle also has links with Mary, Queen of Scots, whose retinue lived nearby in an area known as Little France. She used the castle as a hunting lodge.
