In my travels as a photographer in Scotland I have found out a lot about the country, the tourist hotspots and attractions , the unusual characters , the unpredictable weather, and the history . At
the end of the 13th century Scotland was under the
oppressive rule of the army of Edward I . A series of events
meant that Wallace would become the figurehead for
resistance to English rule. In Dundee Wallace was attacked
by the son of Selby,the English constable . He killed Selby
and had to leave Dundee . A soldier found Wallace fishing on
the River Irvine and demanded his catch. Wallace offered
half of it and the soldier attacked him. Wallace killed him
with his fishing rod.
In May 1297 William Heselrig , the Sheriff of Lanark ,
killed Wallace's wife , Marion Braidfoot. Wallace vowed he
would take his revenge and killed Heselrig. ...

Clan links with Eilean Donan Castle
This castle was built in 1220 and owned by the
MacKenzies of Kintail. In 1719 it was held by Spanish
Jacobites. Three English frigates attacked the castle and
left it in ruins. In 1912 work started on restoring the
castle over a period of twenty years at a cost of a quarter
of a million pounds. The restorer was Lt-Col. John
Macrae-Gilstrap. More recently the castle featured in the
new Bond movie...
